Note: before downloading you should perhaps rename it, say; 'new fmlas2.zip', in order to avoid overwriting the original .zip file. Got your ears on Luca?
For those of you looking for the very latest version of M3D (v1.8.9) which now features Volumetric Lighting as well as a host of other excellent functions - it can be downloaded for free, as ever, from FractalForums.com at:

New Official Mandelbulb3d Site!
Update from Andreas Maschke (thargor6 (https://www.deviantart.com/thargor6)) today! Here is what he had to say:
"I just finished and published the first version of the new official Mandelbulb3D-site.
It is a subdomain of my main domain, so it uses a fast and secure web space:"

Big thanks to Andreas for continuing to support this amazing program!

MB3D v1.99.7 release with BulbTracer2
Great news from Andreas ~thargor6 (https://www.deviantart.com/thargor6)
Just released MB3D 1.99.7 as a major update.
:thumb816342442:
It comes with BTracer2, a major update to the mesh-generator.
In fact, the module was rewritten, in order to achieve the following goals:
– get much better results
– to be much faster
– (optionally) generate color-information
– make it simpler to use
In short: to make it fun! :D
See the included image “BulbTracer2.jpg” for a visual overview of the changes. Have fun!

MB3D 1.98 release: point-cloud export
News from Andreas;

"What’s new:
– Point-Cloud-export in the BulbTracer-module, which is able to generate very nice models in high resolution in a short time,
even with color (which is currently a limited feature).
This mode is now the default mode in the BulbTracer, with a initial volumetric resolution of 256, which is nice to play around,
because it is not too slow, but often creates nice models.
For creating a final mesh, a volumetric resolution of 2560 is not unusual, as the new mode is fast and takes not too much memory.
To use the old way of generating mesh consiting of vertices and f
Mandelbulb 3D ~ Light it up!
This journal is really not so much a tutorial as it is a workflow discussion on final composing and lighting of a Mandelbulb 3D scene. And I realize there will always be a difference of opinion on something being too dark, too bright, too foggy or just too much something in one way or the other. But to me, that's what can make the difference between a regular image, and one that really sets a mood and has more impact than a plain vanilla piece. So below I cover my thought process on a recent image I posted. Maybe this journal will encourage you to look for that little something extra that can make a difference in your final results.
