In Jesse's own words;

"Please read the textfile in the archive for a short documentation.
If this version does not work with Win2000, i can only say sorry, dunno why!

  -  Direct value input in the navigators parameter adjust panel by clicking on
     the value.

Hi Joseph. Can't imagine why you would lose all your formulas when updating M3D. When you unzip the formulas, do you have WinZip set to 'overwrite and replace'? This will update all relevant formulas with the newer version. Alas, unless you keep older formula versions in a seperate dedicated folder, you may find that newer versions do give slightly different results - just the nature of M3D I'm afraid.
Older versions of M3D with formulas can still be downloaded from FractalForums, but darkbeams 'newfmlas.zip' is constantly updated, so older versions cannot be saved, unless you D/L and rename the zip file for later reference.
Hope this helps some? :O_o:

I actually use 7-zip mostly- and it's not exactly that the formulas disappear but that when I open the programa and look under the headings very few are available.

Have you updated your 'initial directories' in M3D? Go to the 'IniDir'
tab at the top left of M3D's main screen; there you can tell M3D where
to find all relevant files, including formulas. You'll need to restart
M3D for the updated directories to be activated.

Saw that the other day and got all excited...no updates on the program itself though, still v1.8.2 just all Updated Formulas and a couple new Test params. Makes me think Jesse is getting ready for a program update though getting everything rounded up like that. Mesh export would be nice but maybe unpracticle from a programming stand point but Volumetric Lighting and Fog would be nice or even just a couple more Formula and Light slots would be nice too.

Yeah, pity it's just a formula and param update Len. Jesse did mention on FF that he's taking a break from development of M3D for a while, but I'm sure he'll come up with a real update at some point soon-ish!
Volumetrics would be a fantastic addition imho - but the render times could be prohibitive. I wouldn't mind waiting for long renders to complete, but I suspect that as it's Jesses baby, he wouldn't, so won't be holding my breath!!
More lighting and formula slots would be brilliant too!

That's true about Volumetrics, they are flipping slow but not any slower than Reflects/Transparency, wouldn't want to run both though. Lights man, so many times I wish I had a couple more lights.

Hi Marc, and welcome! Lucky old you; I can't get Mandelbulber to run
at a decent speed on my old 'steam computer', wish I could! :crying:
However, M3D does a cracking job as far as I'm concerned!

Even though my previous attempts with MB3D failed miserably, I need more practice. But I am still gonna try this new weapon of mass addiction! Must!
